We are now looking for an experienced Senior Server Engineer to join the Hay Day team. This role can be based either in Helsinki or London.

As a Server Engineer at Supercell, you'll be embedded in a game team, working closely with other game developers and focusing on ensuring that our hundreds of millions of monthly players get the best, most uninterrupted experience possible. Depending on the game and your own interests, you can focus more on the general game server infrastructure or new game feature development – and sometimes you do both.

Communication between server engineers in different game teams is vital to our success. Our server engineers frequently share learnings, both successes and failures, across game teams to improve each team. You must be humble, pragmatic, and willing to admit and explain your mistakes, so we can all learn and improve.

If you have experience in developing live systems, using virtualized computing, and supporting large user volumes, you might be the person we're looking for!

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deploy, and maintain highly scalable and available backends for live games
• Contribute to best practices on reliability and availability
• Troubleshoot and tune high-volume sharded database systems
• Offer periodic round-the-clock, first-line support to production environments as part of a rotating on-call duty
• Contribute to game design discussions, as game teams are typically small
