Overview
Postdoctoral Researcher, Molecular Biotechnology – Join to apply for the Postdoctoral Researcher, Molecular Biotechnology role at Aalto University. The Cellular Engineering group, led by Assistant Professor Sesilja Aranko, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join a project focused on understanding the role of post-translational modifications in shaping the assembly and functional properties of protein-based materials.
Aalto University is where science and art meet technology and business. We shape a sustainable future by making research breakthroughs in and across our disciplines, sparking the game changers of tomorrow and creating novel solutions to major global challenges. Diversity is part of who we are, and we actively work to ensure our community’s diversity and inclusiveness. This is why we warmly encourage qualified candidates from all backgrounds to join our community.
Responsibilities
- Develop methods for the recombinant production of post-translationally modified structural proteins.
- Investigate how these modifications affect material assembly and properties.
- Design new, functional materials, focusing on proteins relevant for biomaterials (including silk- and collagen-proteins) to develop novel, sustainable, high-performing biomaterials.
- Join the Cellular Engineering research group and contribute to research at the interface of molecular biotechnology, protein engineering, and biomolecular materials.
- Contribute to the development of methods for biomolecular protein-conjugation reactions and enzymatic post-translational modifications (e.g., phosphorylations, hydroxylations, glycosylations).
- Apply and develop ultra-high throughput screening technologies to optimize enzymes and products for applications in enzyme technologies and functional biomaterials.
