Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Control, Max Payne, Alan Wake, and one of the leading independent game studios in the world, is looking for a Development Manager for our Rendering team in Northlight.
We are now looking to expand our Northlight production team with an experienced Development Manager to help drive Northlight development efforts and enable the production of all Remedy games. As a Development Manager for rendering, you will work directly with the team on developing cutting edge graphics technology for Remedy's Northlight Game Engine, which has enabled games like Alan Wake 2 to win awards such as Artistic Achievement and Audio Achievement in BAFTA Games Awards 2024.
You will collaborate both with game teams on Remedy's ongoing projects and with technical teams within the Northlight unit. You will be the person the Rendering team can rely on to clarify priorities and set clear schedule targets, enabling the team to collaborate closely with relevant artists and deliver world class results!

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- In this role you will be defining the engine backlog of the Northlight Rendering team together with the Lead Rendering Programmer. Proactively triaging the backlog on a daily basis, processing new items, updating existing ones and ensuring progress according to priorities.
- Working with the technical experts of the team and with game project stakeholders in disciplines like Environment Art, Lighting and VFX to clarify rendering tech requirements into well-structured backlog items.
- Supporting the work planning of the team, facilitating meetings such as sprint planning or backlog grooming.
- Supporting the daily work of the team, assisting with cross-team collaboration, removal of blockers.
- Have opportunities to evangelize the use of our rendering technology, working to educate craft teams on newly added features and workflow improvements.
- Coordinating development projects with external partners such as hardware vendors.
- Communicating progress and changes to plans to Northlight Development Managers and other technical teams, aligning on schedule targets with Northlight Leads and other producers.
- Maintaining the team’s short-term and long-term roadmap, breaking down high level backlog items into actionable tasks for individual team members.
- Tracking progress against defined milestone targets, managing the scope and flagging any risks.
- Accountable for team work practices and hitting schedule targets.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
Relevant prior hands-on production experience from the game industry, with at least one shipped game title. Either from a Lighting, or VFX discipline, or specifically in leading work in graphics programming.Experience with leading the daily work of technical teams.Experience with managing and clarifying requirements on a task / story level.Understanding of rendering concepts such as GI, LODS, Materials, Post-processing, Raytracing, etc.Ability to independently assess and qualify most incoming requirements for rendering tech, while leaving the detailed technical designs and implementation to the team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to enable the collaboration in a multicultural environment.You thrive working in a team environment, sharing ideas and learning from others. You are used to collaborating with colleagues across different departments and you are able to communicate and present your ideas in a clear and coherent way. As a team member you are dedicated contributing towards a friendly and inclusive work environment.You can work independently, being organized and able to document your work.Additional Skills We Would Like to See ( Not Required) :
