The role is to ensure safe working practices and the wellbeing of our people in shipyards and in-house production facilities worldwide. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Turku or Helsinki, Finland. The Safety Manager will report to the Vice President, Project Operations.

This recruitment process is handled in collaboration with Staffpoint Professionals, and the employment contract will be signed directly with Merima.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an occupational safety strategy in line with our operational goals.
• Ensure compliance with international workplace safety standards (e.g. ISO 45001, OSHA) and local regulations.
• Carry out risk assessments, audits, and lead incident investigations.
• Deliver engaging health & safety training and strengthen a culture of wellbeing.
• Lead change management initiatives to embed safety into daily operations and drive continuous improvement.
• Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, in-house production teams, and HR to make occupational safety a natural part of everyday work.
