Doctoral Researcher

in novel Raman-based diagnostics in arthritic diseases to join us in (HST) at the Faculty of Medicine.

The Research Unit of HST is a multidisciplinary research unit in the University of Oulu that provides unique high-quality, socially influential health science and technology research and education.

About the job

Are you interested in new diagnostic technologies ? We are now looking for a Doctoral Researcher to utilize new Raman-based diagnostics along with advanced machine learning methods and next generation signal enhancement strategies to diagnose arthritic diseases from human biofluids in a sustainable manner.

As a doctoral researcher you will develop and validate new Raman-based diagnostics across the clinical pathway in a close collaboration with a postdoctoral researcher. During the four-year PhD project, your tasks will include designing, implementing, and evaluating the advantages and cost-benefits of Raman-based diagnostic in arthritic diseases.You will also be a part of multidisciplinary research group, which is researching the impact of digital solutions along the care pathway of critically ill patients (Digital Impact for Health).

Who are you?

We are welcoming candidates with :

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g, health sciences, economics, biomedical engineering, health informatics) and eligibility to apply to the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS)
  • Fluent skills in Finnish and English, both oral and writing.
  • Possibility to work in Oulu for at least during the data collection.
  • We also appreciate

  • Relevant background as a healthcare professional (e.g., nurse, biomedical scientists, medical doctor) and experience from clinical work.
  • Prior experience in research activities such as statistical analyses and writing scientific articles is considered a significant plus.
  • Prior experience in cost evaluation.
  • Salary

    The position is fixed-term forfour years as of 01.01.2024or as soon as possible thereafter.

    The salary will be based on the levels 2-4 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 2300-2600 € per month (before taxes).

    A trial period of 6months is applied in the position.
